Sulfura rims 20" offer a new variant for the Tesla Model 3 .

They weigh 9.8 kg which makes them very light and uniquely designed 20" wheels.

Rims are unsprung masses of a vehicle and are the vehicle components follow the undulations of the track exactly. The Unsprung masses have a negative effect on the comfort, handling, fuel consumption, safety and reliability of the vehicle.

Impact on acceleration and braking :

- The heavier the wheel, the more energy it will take to set it in motion and consequently to stop the movement.
- A heavy wheel requires more force from the motor (torque) which will reduce acceleration.
- On the other hand, a lighter wheel allows a better performance where the motor will have to force less.
- It will be easier to stop a wheel of 1kg in rotation than a wheel of 100kg because it develops less inertia.
- The heavier the wheel, the less effective the braking.

Impact on consumption :

- The consumption depends on the vehicle and the energy that the engine consumes to put the car in motion.
- Therefore, a lighter wheel will require less energy to accelerate.
 -The engine being less solicited with light wheels will allow a better acceleration what allows you to save in consumption.

Impact on performance:

- The forged rim manufacturing method allows for increased rigidity while reducing weight.
- Cutting in raw pieces of 6061 aircraft aluminium the density of the rim will be better than cast aluminium. Indeed, cast aluminium can present imperfections but also a less important density which will impact the rigidity and the weight of the rim.
- Consequently, the stiffer the rim, the better the handling because it reduces the deflection phenomenon (difference in the radii of the constrained and unconstrained tire) in the bends.
