Perhaps the most important bushing replacement on the entire car, the front lower control arm bushing moves significantly sideways in the corners. This results in a less than direct feel through the steering wheel. Since the outer wheel and tire carry most of the load in the turns, this outer bushing flexes more than the inner bushing. This results in a change in toe and camber in the front suspension, which reduces total front grip.

That's not even the worst part! The OEM lower control arm Tesla has a known tendency to loosen after aggressive track driving on high-grip tires. In fact, the bolts completely bent back during the Mountain Pass Performance event at the Laguna Seca Time Attack. The last half of the lap was completed with the bolts literally held in place by the factory plastic running gear. This happened despite tightening the bolts higher than factory specs and checking them on the first day of the event. Our solution aims to reduce the occurrence of recoil of these bolts by providing a secondary load path for the lateral movement of the arm. By using dowel holes in the arm and corresponding studs in the cross member, the bolts can do their clamping job, and the studs can support any lateral load.

The result? An ultra-direct, laser-clean turn and no more wallowing to take a set, and no more wobble or indirect feel in the middle of the corner - and more overall front grip!

This kit is a complete bushing replacement, using a sealed spherical bearing (similar to those used on our other arms). The bearings have all the advantages of a spherical bearing, without any of the disadvantages.
