The Tesla New Vision-Based Autopark Launches Globally

Tesla's New Vision-Based Autopark Launches Globally

The Tesla vision-based Autopark technology has gone beyond North America. It is available in several European countries, including Spain, Germany, France, and Italy. It may possibly be offered in other regions, though this has yet to be confirmed. The new feature is compatible with automobiles equipped with HW3 or higher. Intel and AMD-based vehicles are supported, with or without Ultrasonic Sensors (USS). To use this feature, you must have Enhanced Autopilot or Tesla’s Full Self-Driving package.

Vision Autopark Features

The new vision-based Autopark feature represents substantial gains and improvements over the prior USS-based approach. One of the most notable modifications is the addition of new visual displays that differ according to the vehicle’s CPU. Vehicles powered by AMD CPUs benefit from advanced 3D reconstruction of their surroundings, resulting in a more detailed and immersive image. In contrast, Intel-equipped vehicles provide a more basic, top-down 2D vision. Despite the differences in visualization, both systems provide better performance.

The new Vision Autopark is noticeably faster and more precise than its predecessor, able to drive into smaller parking spaces with only a slight clearance around the vehicle’s maximum width. It supports backing into and parallel parking but not face-in or diagonal parking. These changes make parking more efficient and accessible, especially under difficult conditions.

High-Fidelity Park Assist

Tesla’s 2024.3.25 update, which contains FSD v12.3.6, adds High-Fidelity Park Assist to vehicles with USS. This capability is only available in vehicles equipped with the Ryzen chip (MCU 3), giving 3D views of their surroundings. Vehicles powered by Intel Atom do not support this visualization.

Vehicles with USS can choose between the Standard Park Assist, which displays actual distances to objects, and the new HiFi Park Assist. Under Controls > Autopilot, customers can choose between “Standard” and “Tesla Vision.”

Future Developments

The global launch of Vision Autopark means that other capabilities, such as Smarter Summon, Park Seek, and Banish Autopark, may come soon. The new Autopark feature is now only available in the United States and Canada for USS-equipped vehicles, but it is planned to be expanded to Europe and other regions in future updates.

Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla’s director of Autopilot, stated that HiFi Park Assist would eventually be available for vehicles with USS. This feature is currently available throughout North America and the majority of Europe, meeting that expectation.
