Tesla is offering a discount to Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) owners in Canada and the United States who upgrade to a new car and switch their EAP to Full Self-Driving (FSD). The business contacted EAP owners about this offer, emphasizing that with the purchase of any new Tesla, barring the Cybertruck, owners can save $1,350 in Canada and $1,000 in the United States by upgrading from EAP to FSD.
Upgrade Costs and Delivery Deadlines
Upgrading from EAP to FSD now costs C$2,750 in Canada and $2,000 in the United States. With the discount, the update essentially costs C$1,400 in Canada and US$1,000 in the United States, roughly half the price.
To qualify for the discount, owners must take delivery of their new Tesla by September 30, 2024. Additionally, owners will enjoy three months of free Supercharging if delivery is completed before August 15, 2024.
EAP vs. FSD
Enhanced Autopilot capabilities include Navigate on Autopilot, Auto Lane Change, Autopark, Summon, and Smart Summon. FSD offers all these functions: traffic light, stop sign control, and autosteer on city streets.
It is important not to upgrade from EAP to FSD immediately in your mobile app. The offer is only valid if the update is purchased on your original vehicle commencing June 24, 2024.
Tesla: Additional Incentives
Tesla also provides free FSD transfers, supercharging, free paint, interior color, and seating options for the Model 3 Performance and Model X AWD. In the US, a low 1.99% interest rate is available for new Model Y purchases.
Future Plans
Tesla plans to implement the FSD Supervised system in other countries, beginning with China. They also want to present a Robotaxi platform; however, the event has been postponed. Tesla withdrew the Enhanced Autopilot option from the US order configurator in April. They also reduced the price of FSD Supervised to $8,000 for a single purchase or $99 per month. With this promotion, EAP owners can upgrade for free.
