Tesla adjusts the price of its wall connector
In a significant step forward, Tesla, the renowned electric vehicle company, has recently changed the price of its Home Wall Connector. Thanks to this upgrade, Tesla customers can now charge their car and extend its range in the privacy of their garage. The price has increased by $50 to $475. Despite this price increase, Tesla’s Wall Connector remains one of the most cost-effective charging stations in terms of specifications.
Tesla’s Wall Connector is designed to work in a variety of environments, including offices and apartments. Thanks to their ability to increase range by 44 miles per hour, Tesla owners have an advantage over drivers of conventional gasoline engines, reducing range anxiety for people who haven’t had the opportunity to stop at a Supercharger station.
Advanced features of Tesla’s third-generation Wall Connector
The 3rd generation model of the Wall Connector, released in January 2020, features a modern white glass front that blends well with many different aesthetics. For Tesla owners, it offers a variety of useful features, such as Wi-Fi connectivity for live updates, remote diagnostics, access controls, scheduled charging via the Tesla app, a 24-foot cable and a flexible design suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
Setting the industry standard with competitive pricing
Tesla’s decision to make its EV charging connector the new industry standard in North America last year has enabled other companies to use it. With a price tag of $500, Tesla has further strengthened the appeal of the Wall Connector, which is already considered one of the best charging stations in its class. The price was quickly reduced to $425 by the company. The NACS connector, which is gaining popularity in North America as major companies like Ford, GM and other charging station suppliers adopt it, was a key factor in this choice.
Tesla wall connector specifications
The wall connector’s specifications have remained unchanged throughout these price adjustments:
- Up to 44 miles of extra range per hour
- Auto-sensing handle to open charging port
- Wi-Fi connectivity for updates, remote diagnostics and access control
- Scheduled charging and data tracking via Tesla app
- Versatile indoor/outdoor design
- Variable amperage configurations to suit installation location
- Power sharing capability with up to six wall connectors
- 24-foot cable length
- Four-year warranty for residential use
Tesla’s Wall Connector is likely to remain a popular option, unless rivals or third-party manufacturers come up with attractive alternatives in the future, especially as more and more EV owners look for a NACS-compatible charging solution.
The price increase for Tesla’s home charging station comes just as it is beginning to gain ground ( ). The Wall Connector remains one of the most affordable stations in terms of specifications, even with the price increase.
